11. ASSIGNMENT: Crime Scene Sketch Lab (Due September 21)
ASSIGNMENT: Crime Scene Sketch Lab
20 points
Instructions:
For this assignment you will be creating a rough crime scene sketch. You will be choosing a room in your house to use as a pretend crime scene for your sketch. You will need the following items:
Paper
Pencil
Measuring Tape
Ruler (for drawing straight lines)
Once you have gathered these items, follow the steps below.
1. Choose a room in your house to create a sketch of.
2. Once you have chosen the room, place at least 5 pieces of "evidence" in the room. Your evidence can be any objects. Cups, forks, pieces of hair, etc. You could even pretend there is a bloodstain on the floor, or a fingerprint somewhere.
3. Once the room is ready, begin measuring. This is a rough sketch so it does not have to be to scale.
4. Measure the sides of the room.
5. Draw the basic shape of the room on your paper and include the room dimensions.
6. Draw the main furniture items in the room and the pieces of evidence.
7. Measure the distance between the walls and the furniture or evidence. For each piece of furniture or evidence choose a spot and measure the distance from that spot and two walls. Draw lines on your diagram and record the distances.
8. Once you are finished with the drawing, label each piece of evidence with a number and create a legend that shows what each piece of evidence is.
9. Make up a case number and include it with your name at the top of your drawing.
10. Take a picture of your drawing or scan it. Follow the directions below to submit your file.
