ASSIGNMENT: Investigate a Device That Helps us Sense Energy
Points Value: 15 Points
For this assignment you will research a device that helps us sense energy. You will investigate how the device was invented and how it works. Then you will make a short presentation about your device using Google presentations. You can use this TEMPLATE to make your presentation.
Choose a device that helps people sense energy better than they can naturally. Some ideas may be:
- hearing aids
- cochlear implants (can help some deaf people regain hearing)
- glasses
- contacts
- telescopes
- microscopes
- sonar
- seismographs (detect earthquake waves)
- radar
- thermal cameras
- Geiger counters
- any other devices that help people sense some form of energy (if you are unsure about your idea, just email me and ask). :)
Your presentation must include:
- The history of the device: Who invented it? When and how was it invented?
- How the device works: How does the device help people sense energy?
- How does the device help people: Who uses it? How does it help people? What type of energy does it help them detect?
- Have at least 2 pictures in your presentation.
- Include the links to any sources you use for pictures or information.

To submit this assignment:- The template will open in Google Presentation
- Choose File then Make a Copy (this will give you a version that you can type in)
- Complete the assignment and save the document in Google Presentations as LASTNAME Assignment Name (ex. JOHNSON Device Presentation).
- When you are finished click Share in the right hand corner
- Under Who Has Access click Change
- Choose People at Mountain Heights Academy who have the link can view
- Choose from the drop down Access field: Allow anyone at Mountain Heights Academy to Edit and then click Save. (Checking this box allows your instructor to write comments on your assignment)
- Copy the Link to the document (the top field of the Sharing Settings window)
- To submit your assignment, in Moodle click Add Submission
- Paste the link to your Google Doc in the box
- Click Save Changes to submit your assignment
After you have completed this assignment, it will be marked as complete with a checkmark after it has been graded by the instructor.
