ASSIGNMENT:  Hot Spots (40 points)

Over the past few weeks we have been learning about the different plate boundaries.  This week we expanded that to include hot spots, that occur in the middle of the plates.  As we have read and watched the lessons this week, you may have noticed that some of the most beautiful places on the Earth were formed from hot spots.  Whether it be the ever popular islands of Hawaii, the fascinating geothermal activities of Yellowstone, or the evolutionary marvel of the Galapagos Islands, hot spots are an important part of the ecosystem.

Your assignment this week is to research a hot spot.  Choose somewhere famous, choose somewhere obscure, choose any hot spot you would like.  You are going to create a slide presentation about the location you choose.

Use THIS PLANNING worksheet to help guide your research.  It includes areas for your information, your citations, as well as all of the requirements.  Open the link, make a copy, and then use it to organize your information for your presentation.
