Calculating the Mean, Median & Mode
At some point in your past math classes, I am sure you've been tasked with calculating the mean, median and mode for a set of data. This video is to refresh your memory on how to do that.
In statistics, the calculations for mean, median and mode are known as "measures of center". That is because all three calculations attempt to describe a data set by identifying the center of the data set.
Which Measure of Center Describes the Data Set Best?
When we calculate the mean, median and mode for a data set, all three measurements are attempting to describe the same thing -- the center of the data. Sometimes, we get very different answers for each of those calculations. In other words, sometimes they each describe the measure of center differently.
