Tsunami Damage

In 2004, a massive tsunami struck the Indian Ocean, killing more that 225,000 people. Scientists hope to better understand geologic history of tsunamis in hopes that will help them better predict when and where they will next occur. The west coast of the United States is vulnerable to tsunamis because it sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area well-known for earthquake potential.
