Tip 2: Use Quotes

Quotes add accuracy to the article and they help add an "at the scene" feeling. 

As you conduct your research, look for quotes you can use.  Or, for the purposes of this assignment, you can make up a quote that you believe a soldier, commander or civilian would say.  

Example of using a quote: Before entering the battle of Long Island, George Washington  rallied his troops by making an inspiring address in which he stated, "The fate of unborn millions will now depend, under God, on the courage and conduct of this army. Our cruel and unrelenting enemy leaves us only the choice of brave resistance, or the most abject submission. We have, therefore, to resolve to conquer or die." (this is an actual quote)
