ELA Skills Practice
If you are taking the SAGE test next week, you will want to familiarize yourself with the format of the SAGE Writing test. The purpose of this assignment is for you to see the format of the writing portion of the SAGE Writing test you will be taking in May.
Step 1) Follow the link here to the SAGE Portal.
Step 2) You will see that the information in the fields are filled in as "Guest." Leave the information as entered, and click on "Sign In."
Step 3) You will then be directed to the "Is This You?" page. Select 8 from the grade level drop down menu, and select "Yes."
Step 4) Select "Start Writing Grades 6-8."
Step 5) You will be directed to the Settings Page. When you take the actual test in February, you will have the option to have the material read to you. This will be done by setting "Descriptive Audio" to yes. For this practice, this option may not be available. Press "Select."
Step 6) You will be take to the "Is This Your Test" page. When taking the actual test, you will need to make sure you are taking the correct test. For this assignment, please ensure you have selected the Writing Grade 6-8 test. Click "Yes. Start My Test."
Step 7) On the "Test Instructions and Help" page, spend some time reading through the contents of the page to familiarize yourself with the features of the test. YOU WANT TO LEARN THE OPTIONS BEFORE TAKING THE TEST IN FEBRUARY. Click on "Begin Test Now"" when you are comfortable with the information.
Step 8) Read through the writing prompt information. YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO WRITE AN ESSAY FOR THIS PRACTICE! Look at the tool bar that includes spell check. You will need to use these functions when you complete the test in February.
Step 9) On the top right of the page, you will see buttons for navigating the test. When you are done looking at the test, you will click "Next." You will then see the option to "End Test."
After you have completed this part of the lesson, you can check the associated box on the main course page to mark it as complete
