READ: Brainstorming
Brainstorming
Choose one paragraph topic from the list below; you will use this same topic over the course of the week. Each day you will complete one or two steps in the writing process until you have written a complete polished paragraph. Again, choose ONE of the following paragraph topics:
1. Perfect Friend: Students generally have much to say about the perfect friend. Think of past experiences with friends, both good and bad, and discuss the qualities of the perfect friend.
2. A problem in your Community: Communities everywhere, even the one where you live, have problems. Think of a problem that exists in your community. Explain what the problem is and write about what you and others might do to solve the problem.
3. Your Ideal Trip: What is your dream vacation? Think of all the things you know or imagine about the place you would like to visit. Explain why you would like it and elaborate on your reasons.
Directions:
Choose ONE of the paragraph topics from the list above. Once you have chosen a topic, spend 20-30 minutes free writing, invisible writing, or brainstorming (see examples in this week’s instruction video).
You need to complete this exercise in a Google document.
Please note that you will not be turning in this step of the writing process for a grade. It is, however, highly suggested, that you complete brainstorming anyway. It will help you gather your ideas for your paragraph in one place.
