What is US History and English 8?

Integrated US History and English 8 is a course that has rich multifaceted curriculum that develops students' reading, writing, and critical thinking skills as they study and explore US History. It is a course that meets 8th grade common core state standards for English Language Arts and History/Social Studies in a way that is tailored to our unique student population. This course fulfills the requirements for both English 8 and US History classes, so you get credit both!  Who doesn't like 2 for the price of 1?

You may find that you are spending more time learning and completing activities in this class than other courses. Integrated US History and English 8 is more time consuming because this class has more work since you get credit for two core courses.  You may find that you are spending an hour (or a bit more) a day doing work instead of the regular 45 minutes, or have 4 or 5 graded assignments instead of 3.  Stay on top of lessons and assignments and you will enjoy this class designed to steer students away from compartmentalized learning.  Interdisciplinary learning implemented in this course will help students gain a broader perspective of issues and situations, and make better class to world connections.
