The French and Indian War (1754-1763) was a world wide battle between Britain and France that lasted 7 years, and the bulk of the disputed took place in America.  It is called the French and Indian war after the two main enemies of Britain and the British American colonies, which were the loyal French forces and the various groups of Native American Allies to the French.
