Get Rid of Overused Vocabulary

Earlier this term, we learned about using interesting versus boring verbs.  In your argumentative essay, we are going to apply the same word choice practice to all of your vocabulary.

Do you too often settle for the easiest word, instead of the one that best suites the description? Check out the following synonyms for "bad" and "good" and see if you can use them in your writing!

-As you edit and go through your own argumentative essay, try to switch out interesting for boring vocabulary.

Instead of using boring, overused vocabulary, try these words!

GOOD (very overused and non-specific)

Beneficial            profitable

high quality          adequate

suitable               commendable

agreeable            positive

amusing

BAD (Again- very overused and non-specific)

poor quality          unsatisfactory      negative

unfavorable     harmful

mischievous        severe

disagreeable     incorrect

unpleasant           invalid
