8.2 Personal Narrative Peer-Review Forum (Due October 17)
Personal Narrative Peer-Review Forum (25 Points)
After you have outlined your personal narrative, you are ready to start drafting your story.
Step 1: Write your personal narrative in a Google doc using your outline as your guide.
As you write, make sure you include the following:
-Transition words (Click HERE to review transitions and view a list of suggested transition words)
- Literary Devices (Click HERE to review Literary Devices and ideas for how to use them in your writing)
- Include plenty of visual and sensory details to help "paint a picture." (sight, sound, taste, smell, touch)
- Include effective DIALOGUE – revealing the personalities of the characters and driving the development of the plot.
Step 2: Edit your story for spelling, capitalization and grammar. Select "Add new discussion topic" and write your last name/Peer Editing in the subject line (for example: Daley/Peer Editing). Then copy and paste your essay from your google doc in the message body. Post your narrative.
Step 3: Create two copies of the Personal Narrative Peer-Review Form. Be sure to give your classmates helpful feedback. "Great job!" and "Needs Improvement" are not useful comments. If your classmate did something well say why. If he or she needs to fix something, tell him or her how to do it.
Step 4: Respond to you classmates' post and leave a link to your completed Peer Editing Rubric. This way your classmate can see your comments and improve his or her essay.
If someone already has two peer edits, do not edit that essay. We want to make sure that everyone receives feedback. To do so, no one can have more than two peer edits. If this is a problem, please talk to your teacher.
This assignment is worth 25 points. You will receive 5 points for sharing your essay, and 10 points of each of your peer edits.
After you have completed this assignment, it will be marked as complete with a checkmark after it has been graded by the instructor.
