READ: Important Vocabulary Terms

These are the most important vocabulary terms to learn this week. Please make sure you understand these terms. 

  • Electric charge is a physical property of particles or objects that causes them to attract or repel each other without touching.

  • Electric force is the attraction or repulsion between charged particles.

  • An electric field is a space around a charged particle where the particle exerts electric force on other charged particles.

  • A magnet is an object that attracts certain materials such as iron.

  • Magnetic poles are regions where the magnet is strongest. The red end of the magnet is the north pole and the blue end is the south pole.

  • Magnetic force is the force that a magnet exerts on certain materials, including other magnets.

  • Electromagnetism is magnetism produced by an electric current.
